![]() ![]() The Inspiron 11's keyboard isn't perfect, but it does enable solid typing. Although it was bright enough for me to read text and write on it, its colors darkened significantly when I viewed the screen from 20 degrees to the left or right. That's dimmer than the Ideapad 110S (213 nits), the Chromebook 11 (235 nits) and the 291-nit category average. The panel emits only up to 196 nits of brightness. The Inspiron 11 is definitely not a laptop you'll use outdoors. That's close to the marks from the Ideapad 110S (70 percent) and the Chromebook 11 (72 percent). So far I am very happy with my Inspiron 14-3452 it’s a pretty quick little machine.According to our colorimeter, the Inspiron 11 produces only 67 percent of the sRGB spectrum. I hope that MS will work on a better delivery for any future updates like this because the casual user is not going to go through all these steps. Surprisingly, this update seemed to free up an additional 1GB on C. Since I had created a system image just prior to this, I removed the windows.old folder using disk cleaner. When complete, I discovered the process had actually written windows.old to the eMMC leaving me only 1.2GB free. I then opened the Media Creation Tool directly from the USB flash drive and started the process selecting to ‘ Keep personal files and apps’. I noted that this might be an option based upon the numerous failed update messages I had before. I attached an external USB hard drive in case the update wanted to write windows.old to it. ![]() Using the Media Creation Tool, I was finally able to upgrade (update) to 1511 (Build 10586).Īfter running disk cleaner, I had 9.2GB of free space. That’s an interesting approach, timmyny2az1 but I didn’t want to go the clean install route. I'm not going to wipe my files every time this issues pops up. I hope Microsoft gets their act together on these type of update issues for future releases and changes the installs to automatically use available connected storage rather than insisting it all has to be on "C:" drive. ![]() Pushan Bhattacharya posted that Vanessa Sohtun's Method 2 worked, with the addition of having to manually start the mentioned services.Ī/./32a0d534-9e64-4bbe-9ec4-afd6bf2d1551 If it isn't NTFS, right click on its drive letter, select the "Format" option, change format to NTFS, and then format it.Īnother link from Microsoft forums has a solution that may work without doing the clean install, but since I didn't go that route I can't vouch for it. To find out what format your USB drive is, insert, right click on its drive letter, look at Properties. In researching this issue, I discovered that using an expansion SDXC/SDHC card might not work, the clean boot files might have to be on a USB drive, and that USB drive might need to be formatted first to NTFS instead of FAT. FYI, it takes a while to download and create that MCT USB boot drive (30min+ for me), and then takes more time (30min+) to do the clean install. You won't need a product key because you should already be running a valid and activated Windows 10 OS. The direct link to the Media Creation Tool:ĭownload MCT, then expand the "+ Using the media creation tool" link at the bottom, follow instructions in "+ Perform a clean installation using a USB or DVD" link. It's a lousy solution having to wipe your hard drive with a clean install. Thankfully this issue hit right after I bought the Inspiand before I had anything loaded on it. What a pain, this update issue is impacting HP Stream users too, and probably any "cloud based" laptops with limited local storage. Thanks to timmyny2az1 for posting the solution! It worked for me (clean install). ![]()
